Vision Sunday

Mark Twain said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom Psalm 90:12

Without Vision people perish. Proverbs 29:18

I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me,
And what I will answer when I am corrected.

Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:1-3

Author Marianne Williamson in her book “A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles” said: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.”

“Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we subconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father [f]of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21

“Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.
For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations
and settle in their desolate cities.

“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.

Isaiah 54:2-5

After leaving Sukkoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people. Exodus 13:20-22

Mission:

Giving a hope and a future.

We do this through:

  • Evangelism:  Sharing the Good News of Jesus
  • Discipleship:  Equipping people to grow in Christ through the Word and the Spirit
  • Community Outreach:  Serving our city and reaching out to those in need
  • Connections:  Building strong relationships throughout the church community

Vision:

Looking toward 2030, New Hope Church Brisbane will see people’s lives transformed in Brisbane and beyond, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Why? Because 2 million people in the greater Brisbane area walk around in isolation, carry addictions and are unconnected to the wonder and life-changing power of the gospel and the loving community which is His church. No longer should the hope-draining idols of materialism, power and prestige rule on our watch. Everybody, all generations, races and culture, from the last, the least and the lost, whether rich or poor, should have the chance to know the love of Jesus, for time is short.

We are rising up and fighting back! We have great hope, and a passion to see 5,000 decisions for Christ. Our hope is that we will journey with at least a quarter of these new believers as they say “yes” to discipleship and “no” to spiritual poverty.

We see us planted in our own building with a church of at least 500 who walk according to the Spirit, for the Kingdom of God is not a kingdom of talk, but of power.

As we grow, we will multiply. We do church as a team. We see many Pastors & leaders using their gifts & equipping others to do the work of the ministry. We see a ministry training school raising up all generations and giftings for the body of Christ, equipping 100 students per year.  Regular mission teams will be propelled outward to communities in our nation and around the world. We have a dream that our church will see three church plants that launch the message of Jesus and His kingdom beyond our borders.

As we share hope with our words, we will also share hope with our hands.  New Hope Care will battle the real poverty of being unloved, uncared for and unwanted by increasing 10-fold so that up to 1,000 people each year will experience the compassionate love of God.

We stand in obedient anticipation of the powerful way God’s presence will transform our church to impact our city and beyond.

Strategic Goals:

Background Vision

  1. Church Plant: We will have launched our first church plant and established a church planting strategy
  2. We will empower and equip our church. New Hope will have a Ministry Training School with 20 students per year and three missions trip per year. We will have developed a strategy which engages team ministry through teaching, generous stewardship and leadership development pathways.
  3. We will see 300 decisions for Christ per year through the utilization of Alpha, New hope Care and targeted outreach events.
  4. Transformed lives will be evidenced at New Hope. New Hope will have an established discipleship program incorporating education and mentoring which sees at least 25% of new converts discipled and established in the life of our church.
  5. New Hope Care will expand to 250 individuals cared for per year. Expansion will take place through effective training of volunteers and expanding the catchment and releasing other opportunities into the future.

2020 Focus Goal

80% of our church will be empowered to use their gifts and talents in such a way that they are actively building into the life of our church.
