Reporting a Child Safety Concern
If you are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person, please tell us immediately.
Concerns may relate to:
- Abuse or neglect
- Inappropriate behaviour
- Grooming
- Boundary violations
- Bullying
- Unsafe practices
- Breaches of our Child Safety Code of Conduct
- Any behaviour that makes a child feel unsafe
You do not need proof before raising a concern.
All concerns are taken seriously.
If a Child is in Immediate Danger
Call Queensland Police on 000 immediately.
How to Report a Concern
You can report a concern by:
- Speaking with our Child Safety Officer
- Speaking with any Pastor or Ministry Leader
- Contacting the church office
- Completing our Confidential Internal Report Form
- Contacting Queensland Police or Child Safety directly where required
All reports are managed confidentially and in accordance with Queensland legislation.

Queensland Reportable Conduct Scheme
Since 1 July 2026, New Hope Church Brisbane has been required to comply with the Queensland Reportable Conduct Scheme.
The Scheme helps ensure organisations respond appropriately to allegations involving workers who engage in reportable conduct towards children.
Reportable conduct includes:
- Sexual offences
- Sexual misconduct
- Physical violence
- Significant emotional or psychological abuse
- Significant neglect
- Ill-treatment
- Behaviour causing significant harm to a child
Where required by law, New Hope Church Brisbane will notify the Queensland Family and Child Commission and cooperate fully with external authorities.

How do I report a concern?
Speak to our Child Safety Officer, a Pastor, or contact the church office. If a child is in immediate danger, contact Police on 000.
Do I need proof before reporting?
No.
If something doesn’t seem right, we encourage you to report your concern. We will ensure it is managed appropriately.
Who receives child safety reports?
Reports are managed by the Child Safety Officer and Senior Leadership in accordance with New Hope Church Brisbane procedures and Queensland legislation.
Are all volunteers screened?
Yes.
All leaders and volunteers working with children are recruited, screened, trained and supported in accordance with our Child & Youth Risk Policy and Queensland legislation.
Are Blue Cards required?
Where required under Queensland law, workers must hold a current Blue Card before commencing child-related work.
How often are your policies reviewed?
Our Child Safety Management System is reviewed at least annually and whenever legislation or best practice changes.
Can I obtain copies of your policies?
Yes.
