The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Luke 10:2
I believe this year will be a year of harvest. A year where we will see an acceleration of God’s kingdom activity in our lives. The Lord has been building a firm foundation in our church, and He is going to build on this foundation with many souls.
The harvest is plentiful. Plentiful, fruitful, overflowing. Imagine a field of wheat just brimming over the edges, where the fences can’t contain them, where there is so much sun and rain to make them grow. The owner of the field would be stoked that there is plenty, but he needs more workers. Some workers are full-time, some part-time, some casual and some seasonal. The thing is with a plentiful harvest, you need lots of workers.
There is no doubt that the fields are white unto harvest all over Brisbane. In schools, at Universities, at workplaces, neighbourhoods, shops, sporting clubs, in the highways and the byways there is a harvest ready to be harvested. The question is, who is ready for work? For hard work.
If we are called to pray and ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers. He must be the one recruiting, and calling people, putting burdens on there hearts to work in the harvest.
As a pastor, I really want to see good strong teams serving at our church, and I will always try to empower leaders to recruit and build those teams. But God promised that he would build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
I don’t want to manipulate or twist someone’s arm into serving on a team. I will ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers!
Recently a couple came to me with a burden on their heart to care for our people more. So we’ve talked and prayed about how they can help and how we can have a stronger system of care for our people. The Lord of the harvest called them to serve! God is in control, He will build His church! I just love working with our father, he knows what he’s doing!!!
Lord, send out your workers into your harvest field. Send us out like you sent your disciples. Raise up more leaders, and release your spiritual gifts! I want to be a good worker for your harvest Lord, Here am I send me. Amen.
