Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. Genesis 37:5
Be careful of the Dream killers. These are the ones who will attack you, belittle you, be jealous of you and try to kill your dream. Joseph knew all about dream killers. His own flesh and blood, his brothers were so jealous, they wanted to do away with him, and his dream.
The story of Joseph, shows his incredible faithfulness to the Lord, and the tenacity to hold on to this dream, no matter what was thrown at him. Abandonment, slavery, temptation, false accusations, imprisonment, betrayal, this story is like a Hollywood blockbuster, actually, the movie “Prince of Egypt” was a blockbuster. Yet in the midst of all these dream killers that came along. Joseph stood firm to his calling and the drams that God had given him.
We all have dream killers. People who with the best of intentions who might say, “Don’t get carried away with that religious stuff,” or “Are you biting off more than you can chew?” Family can be the worst, they can pour cold water on a burning dream with one conversation, and many have run away from their calling because of the discouragement that comes. But if God be for us, who can be against us? The Bible says no weapon formed against us will prosper! We must hold on to the dream and the call on our lives, and know that God is true to his word, and he will never leave us or forsake us. His grace is sufficient for us, his Holy Spirit empowers us to achieve the dream, not matter how big it might be.
We must dare to dream, and rise up in spite of the Dream killers. Hold on to the dream that Lord has placed on our heart, all things are possible to him who believes.
Father, anoint me afresh with your Holy Spirit. Give me strength to follow the dreams you’ve placed on my heart. Let your kingdom come and your will be done today I pray, in Jesus name, Amen.
