Hi everyone, my name is Cherry. I’m very excited to share my testimony with everyone of how I become a Christian, and how I grow my faith in Jesus Christ.
I was born in China. In 2006, I left my parents, my hometown and arrived in Australia. I was lonely, sad and homesick, but God put His hand on me, took my loneliness, sadness and homesickness away.
I didn’t know or even heard the name of Jesus until I came to Australia. One day, the first month I arrived in Australia, a friend of my flat-mate took us to the church called New Hope Brisbane. I was absolutely attracted by the band and the service. At the end of the service, the Pastor asked who wants to give your life to Jesus, I put my hand up, even though I didn’t know what it meant. I just wanted to be involved in this group. After the service, I went to ask Peter Malins heaps of questions, and he prayed for me, that’s when I became a Christian on Sept 24th, 2006. And I was baptised on the following Sunday.
I thought that was it, to become a Christian, just need someone pray for you, get baptised, then I can tell everyone that I am a Christian. However, I was still living my old life. I had a lot of problems, and didn’t enjoy my life at all. At one stage I stopped attending church for 3 months.
Till one day, Michelle talked me on MSN, she said she was worried about me not attending church, she also offered me to have a study with her every week, just get to know Christianity a bit more. We started straight way. I began to realise that I still hadn’t asked Jesus to forgive me for my sin, I wasn’t free!!! But Jesus, He never gave up with me, He never changed; still so loving and forgiving. After I got to know Him more, I realised that He forgave me totally! In the blink of an eye. It’s hard to describe and believe how this happened, but at that time, I felt no longer burdened. I felt free, completely free!
I really enjoyed the studies with Michelle, and I learned a lot of things during that time.
My life and my attitude totally changed after that. During these four years, God gave me jobs, degrees, money, a beautiful husband, a Christian family, friends, places to live, and a car…I’m so blessed. I want my parents and my friends to be blessed too, so I told them this good news: Jesus, who is the one and only saviour set me free. Some of my friends have been saved, some haven’t. I continually pray for them, I pray that they will be saved one day.
Anyway, friends, this is the best choice I have ever made in my life. I’m sure it will be the best choice for you too. We just need to trust in Him, and let Him handle our lives.
